Mindfulness Breakfast Meeting - Creating Clarity Around Competing Priorities
Today’s professionals have a variety of competing priorities in their lives: responsibility for professional results; responsibility for employee development; responsibility for family and personal commitments; responsibility for personal development, etc. Creating clarity around your ultimate goals and aligning priorities to this envisioned future will provide a road map for daily, monthly and quarterly activities. We will explore a few simple strategies to help focus your actions and integrate various aspects of your life.

About Our Speaker:
Jessica J. Schimert: OD Consultant - Performance Management Partners
Jessica J. Schimert, M.B.A, M.S. is an organizational development consultant, trainer, and executive coach at Performance Management Partners. She works with individuals, teams and organizations to realize full leadership potential.
At the organization level, Jessica works with leadership teams to create a clear vision for the organization and aligns strategic goals and talent to accomplish the vision.
At the team level, Jessica facilitates interactive group sessions to increase team cohesion with a focus on trust building, conflict resolution, interpersonal communication and clarity around roles and goals.
For the individual, Jessica works to develop leadership skills through a proven one-on-one executive coaching process. This process incorporates a variety of assessment tools to provide a clear picture of the individual’s strengths and potential derailers and a foundation on which to develop talent.
Jessica has worked with organizations in the health care, banking and investment, legal, accounting, television, public relations, manufacturing, construction, property management, automotive, agriculture, government, higher education and nonprofit industries. Jessica’s background experience is in the banking and construction industries, including family business management.
Jessica has served as an adjunct faculty member for the Canisius College Center for Professional Development and Women’s Business Center and an adjunct professor at Canisius College in the Communication Studies Department. She began her career at M&T Investment Group.
Jessica serves on the Board of Directors for the Western New York Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) and the Junior League of Buffalo. She volunteers at her children’s preschool and elementary school. She is a proud graduate of the 2012 Leadership Buffalo class and the United Way Board Governance Program for Women. She was awarded the 2015 SBA Woman Business Champion of the Year.
Jessica completed her undergraduate work at St. Bonaventure University and received an Honors BA in Journalism/Mass Communication. She completed an MBA from the University at Buffalo with a marketing concentration and an MS in Communication and Leadership from Canisius College. Her Master’s research is in the field of executive coaching and health communication. She has published articles in both fields.

AFWA Annual Holiday Charity Dinner!

Join us for the AFWA Annual Holiday Charity Dinner!
Purpose of the AFWA Dinner:
Every year, the AFWA Buffalo Chapter hosts a Charity Dinner to raise money for a local women’s charity. The past four years, we were able to raise between $2-3,500 for Dress for Success (2014), Hope for Two (2015), Gerard Place (2016), and Haven House (2017)!
This year, we are proud to support the Child Advocacy Center! The mission of the Child Advocacy Center is to integrate and coordinate services to meet the needs of child victims of sexual and serious physical abuse and their families at a single, child friendly facility. Such response is intended to reduce trauma, promote accountability and facilitate healing. A combination of funds from Child and Adolescent Treatment Services, the federal and state government, and private sources including the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County enabled the CAC to open in 1994. The CAC was one of the first two CACs to open in New York State and served as a model for many developing centers including Canadian CACs. Thank you for supporting the CAC!!
Night of the Dinner:
At the Charity Dinner, we will have a Basket Raffle, Networking, and the opportunity to donate to a great cause during the Holiday Season. The event will start at 6pm, which will give you plenty of time to socialize and strategize on which of the amazing baskets you would like to put your tickets into for a chance to win! There will be plenty of appetizers and Dinner will be served at 6:45pm with a quick presentation from the Charity. If you would also like to bring items to donate, the CAC would love:
- Small, Throw Fleece Blankets (not bedding)
- Coloring books and/or Colored pencils
- Comfort items for teens like journals and earbuds
There will be free valet parking for the event!
Bar, Baskets, and Raffles:
There will be a cash bar and plenty of Baskets and Raffles, so please bring cash or checks, if you would like to participate!
This event is open to everyone - Please invite spouses, family, and friends – the more the merrier!

Please consider donating a basket or soliciting a basket donation from companies, family, friends, or colleagues. In addition to any profits earned from the dinner, the gift baskets help us donate even more to this great cause!
